Most Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started (Before You Begin)

  • Who do you work with?

I work with individuals and couples of all genders and sexualities seeking support with intimacy, relationships, sexuality, embodiment, and personal growth.

  • Do I need previous experience with this kind of work?

No. Many clients are completely new to somatic work, while others have spent years in therapy or personal development.

  • What does it mean to work 'somatically'?

Soma refers to the body and living fully expressed in all areas of yourself and your life. Somatic bodywork and coaching centres the body's experience rather than the mind's (though the value of the mind is not dismissed). It is based on a premise that the body has its own intelligence. Research in neuroscience, trauma and embodied cognition increasingly demonstrates that our bodies hold patterns of learning, protection and regulation that cannot always be accessed through thinking alone.

In order to work somatically you do not have to receive touch.

  • I've done therapy, how is coaching different?

Whilst this work is therapeutic, the main difference are in the objectives and how ready you are emotionally to move forward. Therapy helps you survive by processing past memories and coaching is about supporting you to thrive and create new experiences. In coaching, the past is only referenced when completely necessary, usually during the consultation.

In one sense, coaching is much more action-oriented and practical than most therapy processes, focusing on education and stepping into new expansive ways of being as you move towards a clear and specific outcome. It relies on a proven process, accountability and expert direction that allows you to make tangible progress.

  • How do I know if this the right solution for me and my situation?

Each person will find some methods and professionals suit them naturally better than others. Meeting each other and trying out some somatic practices together in your consultation will allow you to make an informed choice. I will also share my professional feedback.

  • Why does everyone begin with a consultation?

The consultation is an opportunity for us both to meet and you to try what its like to work 'somatically' and with me. There you get to find the words for what you've been alone with, with the support and non-judgmental listening of someone who's experienced in these matters. As well as clarifying what's been going on, you'll start to identify where you want to get to, what's been in the way of making those changes. Only then can we start to create the best way forward for you.

  • Can you recommend another practitioner if you're not the right fit?

Yes, this consultation is for - its not a sales call. I'm here to help you win. I will share any professional contacts from her network, or relevant educational resources to support you in the event that either of you deem this in not a suitable next step. When appropriate, I may recommend working with me alongside a therapist or other healthcare professional.

  • Do you work internationally?

Yes. I work with clients worldwide online, and we arrange private retreats to meet in person. I travel to see clients internationally and they often visit me in London.

  • Why do your clients choose to work with you?

Clients often tell me, at the end of their consultation, that they've felt really safe and understood. That's not what they expected, so the relief and trust it builds goes a long way. They often tell me they were looking for someone who could combine psychological safety with practical, body-based change. My work is deeply personalised, trauma-informed and designed around the individual rather than a fixed protocol.

The Work

  • What is somatic sexology?

Somatic sexology combines conversation, education, and body-based practices to support people in developing healthier relationships with themselves, others, and their sexuality.

It recognises that whilst the brain is a known place of intellect, the body has its own knowledge system too that is often overlooked. Since the body is where and how we have sex, its a very effective and practical way to work.

  • What is sexological bodywork?

Sexological bodywork is an educational and client-led modality that uses touch, breath, movement, and awareness practices to support learning and change. It is always consent-based and tailored to the individual. One-way erotic touch means that the coach may touch the client at the clients request for their learning, but the client does not erotically touch or explore the coaches body. Clients can receive touch to learn about, heal and bring pleasure to any area of their body they wish to explore. It is unique as a legal professional modality in this manner. The purpose is always education, healing and self-awareness, never sexual gratification or entertainment.

  • Is bodywork and touch always required?

No. Many clients choose to work entirely through coaching and non-touch somatic practices. Any body-based work is always discussed in advance and never required, though it's a special and meaningful option many clients find benefit in. The bodywork can be self-touch (the client touching themselves with the support or direction of the coach) or practitioner touch (the coach touching the client in a consensual and co-created manner). The touch can also happen without nudity - either over clothes or under a modesty sheet.

  • Do you work online or in person?

Both. You will be able to choose between support that takes place online, in person, or have a combination of the two. Self-touch bodywork is a practical option for those wishing to benefit from sexological bodywork whilst working online.

  • Do you work with couples?

Yes. I work with both individuals and couples. I have had really successful outcomes working with both partners together as well as working with just one person in the relationship.

Safety & Confidentiality

  • Is this confidential?

Yes. Confidentiality, consent, and psychological safety are central to all work.

  • How is this method trauma-informed?

Repairing wherever we're suffered trauma is often key inside of resolving body, sex and intimacy issues, and trauma tends to live in the body. In order to heal and not re-traumatise when we touch upon these memories in our work together, it is thoughtfully paced and structurally empowering. As the client, you co-create your experience by being given choice and control over what, or how much, happens. There is also a continuous feedback process to ensure dialogue that calibrates how we're working with what you and your body uniquely need.

  • What if I'm feeling really embarrassed / nervous?

It's really common to feel very nervous or even embarrassed about what you want to ask for help with. Luckily for you I don't get embarrassed or awkward about any of these things. I do get a little nervous in an excited way before meeting with the new clients, and so I think it's also just a sign that we're human.

Practicalities

  • What kinds of issues do clients seek support with?

Clients commonly seek support with desire, arousal, orgasm, erectile difficulties, premature ejaculation, painful sex, body image, shame, intimacy, relationships, boundaries, communication, and nervous system regulation.

  • How long do you work with clients before things change?

Every client is different. Some experience shifts quickly, while deeper patterns may benefit from longer-term support. Recommendations are tailored to the individual and can be advised in session.

  • Why aren't all your fees listed?

Every client begins with a consultation because no two people need the same type or level of support.

Following the consultation, I'll recommend the approach I believe is most likely to help you achieve meaningful and lasting change. This may be a private retreat or another tailored coaching pathway.

Your recommendation, investment and timeframe are based on your goals, circumstances and the level of support that will best serve you. This ensures you receive the right support, rather than trying to fit your needs into a standard package.

The consultation fee is published on the consultation page and can be credited towards future work when you continue within five days of your consultation.

Talking about money can feel just as vulnerable as talking about sex, but it's an important part of creating the right support. If you have specific financial considerations, please bring them up at the beginning of your consultation or on the form prior. We'll discuss them openly and I'll take them into account when recommending the most appropriate way forward.

  • Is the consultation fee credited toward future work?

Yes, whilst the consultation is a standalone professional service designed to provide clarity, direction, and personalised recommendations, it also can be credited towards future work when you continue within five days of your consultation date.

  • Can I work with you if I have a disability or health condition?

Most likely. Please get in touch to discuss your needs. I aim to make my work as accessible as possible.

  • Do you offer retreats for individuals and couples?

Yes. Private retreats can be designed for both individuals and couples.

  • Where are coaching sessions and retreats held?

Remote sessions often take place online via Zoom, however they can be done via telephone if that's better suited to you.

Retreats often take place in London though I also travel internationally, depending on the needs and preferences of my clients. Subject to calendar availability.
